NELSON MANDELA HISTORY AND LEISURE TOUR

Tour with us in the Footsteps of Mr Mandela by enjoying both the history and the beauty of our country South Africa.

 

Day 1 - Arrive in Cape Town - visit Table Mountain & Kirstenbosch where Mr Mandela has a flower named after him.

 

Day 2 - Robben Island Tour & Half Day City Tour - Mr Mandela spent 18 years in prison. A 3 hour tour which half day city tour - visit cape town city hall where Mr Mandela made his first freedom speech after he was freed.

 

Day 3 - Cape Peninsula Tour, visit hout bay, Chapmans Peak, Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope and African penguin colony. Drive back via Pollsmoor prison where Mr Mandela spent some of his prison time.

 

Day 4 - Winelands Tour - Visit to see the cheetah outreach centre, 2 wine tastings and a visit to the prison Mr Mandela spent his last years in prison and where he was released in February 1990. We will also visit the flat where he spent his last years in prison.

 

Day 5 & 6 - Garden Route, drive to Knysna, stop along mossel bay, overnight in Knysna, visit the heads in Knysna and a cruise on the lagoon – depart for nelson Mandela bay (Port Elizabeth) visit the 1800 early British settler history-drive to East London.

 

Day 7 - Drive to East London - visit Grahamstown & overnight in East London

 

Day 8 - Visit the Nelson Mandela museum where you will be taken on a full day tour of Mveso, Qunu, Fort Hare. This is where Mr Mandela was born, grew up, retired and is now his resting place.

 

Day 9 - Fly to Johannesburg - Soweto & Apartheid museum. Apartheid museum opened its doors in 2001. It is the heart of the apartheid story. Soweto history is rich in stories of the past and the present day. Visit the house nelson Mandela first house.

 

Day 10 - Visit Lilieslief farm, constitutional hill & the state building. Visit Lilieslief farm which was the secret hiding place of the ANC and where the leaders were arrested leading up to the Rivonia trial. We will also visit the union buildings where Mr Mandela was sworn in as the first democratic president on the 27 April 1994.
